    Sara Ellen Wilson passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Twin Lakes Community in Burlington, NC.  She had been afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease since 2006  and resided in the Twin Lakes Memory Care Unit there.  Sara was married to her husband of (60) years, William David (Bill)Wilson.


    Sara was born in Alliance, Ohio to John and Hannah McCallum who had preceded her in death.  She had three brothers, James McCallum, and Gerald McCallum of Alliance, and William McCallum of Jupiter, Florida.  Her two sisters, Helen Malone of Livingston, Texas and Lois McCallum of Gallipolis, Ohio both preceded her in death as well as her brother, James.  Sara was a graduate of Alliance High School, attended the University of Texas at Austin, TX and worked at clerical positions at Babcock and Wilcox in Alliance and Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.


    Sara and Bill were the parents of four children.  Sue Ellen Larkin (John) of Philadelphia, PA, Cynthia Jane Gabriel (Philip) of Conklin, NY,  John Wilson of Houston, TX and Douglas Wilson (Stella) of Seattle, Washington.  Patty Wilson and Cynthia Royals-Wilson were also devoted daughters-in-law.


    Sara loved “helping” in all its forms.  Her greatest joy was in helping after the birth of each of her twelve grandchildren, except one.   The grandchildren are Dan, Sarah, Natalie and Joseph Plastino of Philadelphia, PA, William, Colleen and Jayne Gabriel of Conklin, NY, Joseph and Kevin Wilson of Houston, TX, and Rachel, Emma and Claire Royals-Wilson of Chapel Hill, NC.  Sara was an active member of the United Methodist Church.  She also loved painting, reading, gardening, sewing and traveling.


    A service celebrating Sara's life will be held at First United Methodist Church—Elon at 1630 Westbrook Avenue, Burlington, NC 27244 on dates to be determined.  Inurnment will take place at Alamance Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 4039 South Church Street, Burlington, NC 27215.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to First United Methodist Church or Twin Lakes Community, 100 Wade Coble Drive, Burlington, NC 27215.
