ARWILDA AND ROBERT SUMMERS (PHOTO 1975)

 
     Arwilda Emma Wilson was born in the brick family home on East State Street, Alliance, Ohio November 16, 1911. She attended the Alliance Public Schools and received her A.B. degree from Mount Union College in 1932; Case-Western Reserve University, School of Library Science, B.S. in L.S. in 1933 and Wm. McKinley School of Law, L.L.B., 1941. She was admitted to the Ohio State Bar August, 1941. She walked to school and college, worked in the college library 4 years, attended graduate school through a school loan and worked as a maid for board and room.
    Arwilda was librarian at Louisville High School from 1933 to 1941, going to law school at night. She married Robert Ward Summers December 22, 1939. He graduated from the same law school and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1941.
    During World War II Robert, as a 1st Lt. in the Air Force, was stationed at a succession of military posts and Arwilda would work as a librarian at each location. Joan was their first born child, came at Mitchell Field, Long Island in 1945.
    After his discharge as a Major, Robert started his medical studies, and during his internship in Cleveland with the Public Health Service, Nancy was born. Robert is a practicing physician in Canton.
    After an interval for babies and volunteer work with assorted organizations, in 1962 Arwilda was requested to work at the newly established Malone College Library when the college was struggling for accreditation. In 1967 she changed to the North Canton Public Library, and in 1973 she became the director of the Stark County Law Library, from which she has just retired.
    Arwilda is a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority; American Association of University Women; Women's Auxiliary of the Stark County Medical Society; Stark County Bar Association; Stark County Humane Society; Mount Union Women; and Church of the Savior United Methodist Church.

    Joan K. was born May 22, 1945 at M itchel F ield, Long I sland, N. Y. She attended public schools at Shaker Hts, Cambridge and Canton, Ohio, Hathaway Brown School for Girls, Cleveland and graduated from Malone College with a B.S. in Education. She got her M.L.S. degree at Kent State University in 1975 and is now attending Akron University School of Law.
    Joan married James Hut ton in 1963 and they have two children, Barbara, 1965 and Cynthia, 1966. Their address is 214 Stewart Ave, MassilIon, Ohio 44646.
    Nancy Lynn was born May 28, 1951 at Cleveland, Ohio. She attended public schools in Canton and graduated from Laurel School in Cleveland and in 1969 attended Kenyon College 1969-1971, Columbus School of Art & Design 1972 and graduated with honors from North Carolina State University in 1975. Her profession is Product Design. Her address is 317 West 11th Street, New York City, New York 10014.
